I swear this happens to me every time I take a shower. Granted, our apartment is a little older and I’m sure the pipes are getting up there in age. But without fail this happens. I have developed a sixth sense about this, and can actually tell when its coming, but aside from literally jumping out of the shower, there just isn’t enough time to do anything. You might say, “Seth, just reach for the knob and change the temperature before it happens”. Trust me, when I tell you that I have attempted that exact move. I must have failed at my ninja training, because by the time I reach the knob, the water has already changed and it scorches my head, and even burns more of my body. So literally, all I can do is how its illustrated in the comic. Move to the back of the shower, and hope that the brunt of the burn is on the meaty part of my buttocks!
Welcome to the Ragamuffins
I would give up all of my drawing ability to be able to sing.
I have always wanted to sing, but unfortunately, i cannot carry a tune. Don’t get me wrong, i love being able to draw, and I believe that works of art do speak to people. But when you hear someone sing, really sing it can take your breath away. I love seeing people follow their dreams…no matter how out of reach they seem. Pursuing ones passion is their greatest gift to humanity, because during their pursuit we as viewers, listeners, or however get to experience it. I want to direct your attention to someone who i care about a lot. My younger sister Hannah “Birdie” to me (technically cousin, again, very close to my cousins) whom is following her passion for singing. Ever since she was super tiny she has been singing and entertaining us all. Just yesterday she showed me her first take at recording for youtube.
Take a look, support her, and encourage her to follow her passion, as there is no greater gift one can give. Please share with me your talents and gifts! I love to see whatever you all are up to! You can also follow me on instagram as SethAJones, twitter as sethajones@raggamuffincomic. You can find Hannah’s links from there too!
The time is here. Lacrosse season has begun, which means that I have now started 80 hour weeks. Not bad, in fact I love it. Waking up at 5:30 in the morning teaching all day then coaching for three hours is great…it just doesn’t leave much time to draw. Or do much of anything else for that matter. I have this weeks strip drawn out, I need to color it and add text. I am hoping to have this completed by the evening and get it posted up. It looks like, with my current schedule I may be posting at sporadic times, I don’t plan on missing any postings but a few may be a bit late. I apologize in advance, but continue to thank you for the support.
On another note, I cannot wait to play Journey! This game looks like it takes simplicity and elegance to a whole new level. I have heard that it is short, but yet a very good experience. With my limited time…Which means I have yet to finish Assassins Creed Revelations (Which man does Assassins Creed 3 look great or what…freaking George Washington and the Assassins…Nerd + History + Video Games = Greatness) My brother (Zach) who is a major history guy wants to play and he hardly ever plays games outside of Madden and NCAA.
I have yet yo watch Game of Thrones and or The Walking Dead…but everyone seems to love it. I plan to pick up the first season of each (or watch them online) to see what all the hype is about. Of course that would mean that I would first have to have some free time…which doesn’t look to be happening. I am also very excited for the Hunger Games movie…ever since HP ended there has been a whole in my heart. My first novel is 90% complete, I have had other students, young adults, and peers read it, and have received some great feedback. A few more edits and I plan to invest a huge amount of energy into trying to find an Agent.
Well, thats it for now…look for the new strip up tonight, and thanks again for all of the support. You guys are amazing!
Due to weather, I had to cancel practice today. Even though I am incredibly tired, I thought it was a good opportunity to get a jump on the next strip. Here is the line work for it. I’ve started coloring it and it should be posted soon. So far I really like this, may be one of the “best drawn” strips I’ve done for ragamuffins (at least in my opinion) Let me know what you all think, sound off in the comments section! Thanks again for all of your support.
So at the encouragement of my students (actually seeing how much they use it) I have made the jump on the bandwagon and have set up a twitter account. I’m not the best with social networks, but I do see how it is a great tool to keep people informed about my artwork, comic strips, books, and other creative endeavors I have invested time in. Please continue to spread the word about Ragamuffins as I am really focusing on posting every week and being consistent with it. I would LOVE to be able to post multiple comics a week but I just don’t see how I have the time currently.
You can follow me @RagamuffinComic If you have a twitter that you think I should follow, sound off in the comments section and let me know.
