Here is the first comic in the “Wisdom” chapter. Again, this is a tribute of sorts to my late Uncle. I hope you all enjoy the next few weeks of strips as they are very near and dear to my heart. As always, thank you for following, reading, and supporting the Ragamuffins.
Welcome to the Ragamuffins
I am very excited about the upcoming storyline. It is going to run seven strips, (so seven weeks). It has been developed in conjunction with my brother (the main character Zach), and focusses on remembering our uncle who recently passed away from his battle with cancer. The strips, I hope are universal enough that you all will enjoy them, but also specific enough to our relationship with our uncle that they will hold a deeper meaning for us.
I am also hoping that the lighter side, maybe even comical side of the strips will be received well. But then, with the sincerity of the comics be a great duality to the writing. The strips will be breaking the traditional three panel layout at times, as you will see with the first strip coming up this Monday. (peak at the lifework below)
I am excited about the next seven weeks. Art and writing have always been an emotional outlet for me. having had a few weeks to mourn and remember my uncle, the stories and ideas for Ragamuffins just came out. I am grateful that I have an opportunity to write and draw, but then to also share them with all of you. Thanks for following and enjoying Ragamuffins! You all are the best.

I would give up all of my drawing ability to be able to sing.
I have always wanted to sing, but unfortunately, i cannot carry a tune. Don’t get me wrong, i love being able to draw, and I believe that works of art do speak to people. But when you hear someone sing, really sing it can take your breath away. I love seeing people follow their dreams…no matter how out of reach they seem. Pursuing ones passion is their greatest gift to humanity, because during their pursuit we as viewers, listeners, or however get to experience it. I want to direct your attention to someone who i care about a lot. My younger sister Hannah “Birdie” to me (technically cousin, again, very close to my cousins) whom is following her passion for singing. Ever since she was super tiny she has been singing and entertaining us all. Just yesterday she showed me her first take at recording for youtube.
Take a look, support her, and encourage her to follow her passion, as there is no greater gift one can give. Please share with me your talents and gifts! I love to see whatever you all are up to! You can also follow me on instagram as SethAJones, twitter as sethajones@raggamuffincomic. You can find Hannah’s links from there too!
The time is here. Lacrosse season has begun, which means that I have now started 80 hour weeks. Not bad, in fact I love it. Waking up at 5:30 in the morning teaching all day then coaching for three hours is great…it just doesn’t leave much time to draw. Or do much of anything else for that matter. I have this weeks strip drawn out, I need to color it and add text. I am hoping to have this completed by the evening and get it posted up. It looks like, with my current schedule I may be posting at sporadic times, I don’t plan on missing any postings but a few may be a bit late. I apologize in advance, but continue to thank you for the support.
On another note, I cannot wait to play Journey! This game looks like it takes simplicity and elegance to a whole new level. I have heard that it is short, but yet a very good experience. With my limited time…Which means I have yet to finish Assassins Creed Revelations (Which man does Assassins Creed 3 look great or what…freaking George Washington and the Assassins…Nerd + History + Video Games = Greatness) My brother (Zach) who is a major history guy wants to play and he hardly ever plays games outside of Madden and NCAA.
I have yet yo watch Game of Thrones and or The Walking Dead…but everyone seems to love it. I plan to pick up the first season of each (or watch them online) to see what all the hype is about. Of course that would mean that I would first have to have some free time…which doesn’t look to be happening. I am also very excited for the Hunger Games movie…ever since HP ended there has been a whole in my heart. My first novel is 90% complete, I have had other students, young adults, and peers read it, and have received some great feedback. A few more edits and I plan to invest a huge amount of energy into trying to find an Agent.
Well, thats it for now…look for the new strip up tonight, and thanks again for all of the support. You guys are amazing!
Due to weather, I had to cancel practice today. Even though I am incredibly tired, I thought it was a good opportunity to get a jump on the next strip. Here is the line work for it. I’ve started coloring it and it should be posted soon. So far I really like this, may be one of the “best drawn” strips I’ve done for ragamuffins (at least in my opinion) Let me know what you all think, sound off in the comments section! Thanks again for all of your support.
